 SYLLABUS

Course Description:  Business Technology Essentials is a one-credit course designed to help students master basic skills in the areas of word processing, database management, spreadsheet, presentation, Internet, and E-mail.   Students are offered opportunities to identify ethical issues pertaining to information systems and together information about careers in technology.  Communication and critical thing skills are reinforced through the use of software applications.   Stimulations and projects promoting teamwork and leadership skills offer further opportunities for application of knowledge and skills.

Students will: 

Instructional philosophy:  Students are expected to meet all course goals and apply knowledge through real life situations.  A variety of teaching methods are employed to teach decision-making, problem solving, communication, and employability and technological skills to students enrolled in the business education program.  Techniques include the use of small and large group discussions, lecture, independent study, simulations and cooperative learning methodology.  Hands on and problem solving experiences are encourage to allow students to become engaged in the learning activities, learn business procedures, and to practice desired behaviors attitudes.  

Assessment Procedures: Tests performance assessments, laboratory work, project reports, assignment completion and project presentation are used in assessing student learning and progress throughout the course.

 Prerequisites:  No Prerequisites are required for the course.

Course Supplies: 2" Notebook, notebook paper and pencil/pen
