PROGRAM

Students in this course will improve their reading skills by consistent reading practice and demonstrating comprehension and interpretation of what they read. Each grading term, students will focus on one novel, while learning reading tools they can use in all subjects. In January and February, students read the first novel in the Bluford High Series Lost and Found, by Anne Scraff. During March and April, most students chose their own material for small-group reading. Students are encouraged to read together and discuss the book as they progress. Selected novels are... The second novel of the Blueford High Series, A Matter of Trust, by Anne Scraff. The fifth novel of the Blueford High Series, The Bully, by Paul Langan. The Contender, by Robert Lipsyte.

HOMEWORK

Students are expected to review all material covered in class before the next class meeting. Homework assignments are announced in class and recorded on this site; students are expected to record these in their student planner and complete them before arriving in class on the date due. For questions regarding specific homework assignments, email Mrs. HARDEE (include name and period in subject line).

Averages for students in this course are determined on a total-points system, reflecting points-earned out of points-possible.
