Creating a Passion for Language

Our new Spanish program ¡Exprésate! Is rich in culture and offers vivid on-location photography and video, animated grammar, and solid pedagogy. This motivational series provides a host of tools that are designed to engage and inspire all types of learners.

This easy-to-use format provides the means for learners to become confident, successful, and create a passion for the Spanish language.

Students will be provided with a textbook, two workbooks and with Free Online Resources:

With Live Ink Online Reading Help,

Soundbooth Online Recording

And Holt Online Assessment

Throughout the Student Edition, the students are referred to the Interactive Online Edition or the go.hrw.com

All students successfully completing the Spanish course will earn a unit of credit toward their high school graduation. Students must pass the first semester in order to get the ½ credit. The scores will not be combined at the end of the year as it was done in the past.

 Zero Period

Spanish 102 is offered during the regular schedule, and also as a zero period class. The class is 45 minutes long and meets daily from 7:05AM to 7:50AM. Please make sure your child is on time for class, otherwise a tardy will be given. Students must enter the building through the left door in front of the main building (1000).

Curriculum

Spanish 101 students will cover Level 1 Book “Exprésate”. There will be vocabulary assessment, lesson quizzes, speaking activities, and a chapter test.

Students must keep their workbooks in their binder.

I will be using a communicative approach on a solid foundation of grammar and vocabulary to help students become proficient readers, writers, and speakers of Spanish.

Spanish 102 students will cover the first five chapters of Level 2 textbook.

Homework

I will try my best to minimize the homework assignments. Most of it will be assigned from the workbook. However, it is imperative for the students dedicate daily amount of time to study the vocabulary words, and study for quizzes and tests.

If you want to be familiar with what we are doing in class, I will continue posting weekly assignments on my web page at http://www.auburnschools.org/AJHS/kgould/index.html
