GRADING

  • Averages in this course are calculated from points earned on homework, class work, quizzes and tests.

  • Tests will carry more point value than daily assignments.

  • Point value is determined by the amount of work required to perform the task.

    • Short answer assignments and multiple choice usually have a 1 or 2 point value per question.

    • Essays are graded on following directions, including required points in response, and specific mechanics taught in class.  Students will be given directions with a checklist to follow.

    • Spelling is penalized only when announced that it will be evaluated.

  • Graded papers are returned to students to be stored in notebooks for future reference and electronically graded papers will be saved in files.

  • Students can compute their average at any time by dividing the total points earned by the total points possible.

    • Assignments will indicate Points Earned /Points possible in fraction format.

    • To determine percentage on any assignment divide the fraction, then multiply by 100 to obtain percent.

    • Points earned divided by Points possible =        x 100 = percent.
