Vincent Van Gogh
Film Report Questions
You must write a report about the
video that we watched in class; Lust for Life. In writing this report you must answer the following
questions. Each question should be
answered in paragraph form with no less than three sentences per paragraph
(more would be better). You must
explain all of your answers. Do not
number the paragraphs; I want this like a report. It should be written neatly or typed and everything should be
spelled correctly. Do not use the word what
to answer you questions with, ex: What I like, or What Van Gogh
did. You will lose five points every
time you do this. Please try your best
and add things that relate to the movie and Van Gogh’s life that will make your
report more interesting.
1.
What
do you think Vincent Van Gogh really wanted to do with his life? What do you think about the way Van Gogh
worked with the miners at the beginning of the movie? How did the elders of the church treat him and do you agree with
how he was treated? Be sure and explain all your answers in complete sentences.
2.
What
do you think about Van Gogh’s relationship with his brother Theo? Do you think that Theo liked him and wanted
to help him? Did Van Gogh like Theo and
how did he rely on him to help? Be sure and explain all your answers in
complete sentences.
3.
Do
you think that Van Gogh was glad that Paul Gauguin moved in with him? How did Paul Gauguin treat Van Gogh? What did Van Gogh do while he and Paul lived
together that affected his painting?
List some unusual ways that he painted. Be sure and explain all your
answers in complete sentences.
4.
What
do you think was wrong with Van Gogh?
If you were Van Gogh and lived during this time period what would you
have done? Why do you think that people
wouldn’t buy his paintings while he was alive, but now that he is dead they are
priceless. What do you like or dislike
about Van Gogh’s paintings? Be sure and explain all your answers in complete
sentences.
