The 8th Grade art classes of Auburn Junior High School consist of alternating day, yearlong classes for those eighth graders who choose art as an elective. Students complete projects and expand on what they learned in sixth and seventh grade art classes. A variety of media is used throughout the course of the year. Students create projects using markers, colored pencil, crayon etching, computer paint programs, clay, and video processes. Eighth grade students participate in the Lions Club "United in Peace" art contest, the Lee County Employ People with Disabilities poster contest and the city of Auburn Recycle Poster contest. The highlight of the eighth grade art class is the yearly animation project (click on the link below to view last years animation). Students create their own short animated movies using a digital camera, moviemaker, and editing software on laptops.
