The director of the Auburn High School Band is Dr. Russell Logan. Dr. Logan is Head Band Director, Chair of the Music Department, and teaches International Baccalaureate Music and Music Theory. He directs the Marching, Honors, Symphonic, and Lab Bands. Dr. Russell Logan is a native of Wetumpka, Alabama and a graduate of Wetumpka High School where his band director was the legendary Mr. Truman Welch. He attended Auburn University and received the Bachelor of Science (Music Education) degree in 1976 and a Master of Music (Trombone Performance) degree in 1978. Upon completion of the Master's degree, Dr. Logan attended the University of Mississippi where he was awarded the Doctor of Arts degree in Music Theory. Before accepting the position as Director of Bands at Auburn High School, Dr. Logan taught one year at Monroe Academy in Forsyth, Georgia, and eight years at Victoria High School in Victoria, Texas. He has served as Director of Bands at Auburn High School since 1989.
